Who is responsible for paying the assessment?

Owners of all homes and properties in Austin’s Colony are required to pay the annual assessment.

What do the annual assessments pay for?

By far, the biggest expense for the association are lawn and maintenance and management fees. Other expenses include the neighborhood newsletter (A.C. Connection), supplies for corresponding, power to run the irrigation and monument lights, water to irrigate the Parkway, Web site costs, flags, and other miscellaneous expenses.

What happens if I don't pay my assessment?

You will receive a past due notice in the mail. Assessments that go unpaid accrue interest. The covenants and restrictions (C&Rs) allow a lien to be placed on properties that do not pay their assessments (see section 37(j) of the C&Rs for more information).

Who serves on the board and how are directors elected?

Five homeowners serve on the board. Directors are elected at the annual meeting of the association. This meeting is held in September. If you are interested in serving on the board, please contact the current board president.

Terms are for (2) years.

(2) of the Director positions expire on even year numbers and (3) Director positions expire on odd year numbers. This creates consistency on the board.

Can I attend a board meeting?

Absolutely. Board meetings are open to all residents and homeowners of Austin’s Colony. If you wish to address to board about a particular issue, please contact the current board president several days prior to the meeting.

What type of violations should I report to the HOA?

Items that violate the neighborhood covenant and restrictions (C&Rs) should be reported to any member of the board of directors. For your convenience, you can report a violation through the web site. Examples of violations might include: lack of yard maintenance, unsightly vehicles, poor house upkeep, and temporary structures.

Items that violate city codes and ordinances should be reported to the City of Bryan. Examples of violations might include: barking dogs, noisy neighbors, speeding vehicles, suspicious activities, vandalism, and criminal violations.
